The one thing I live by is that this world is for doers.
The one thing I live by is that this world is for doers. No philosophy, idea, or thought is any good if it’s not put into action.
Last year, I vowed to start my Podcast Show to bring real, unfiltered, unscripted stories of successful/failed leaders and entrepreneurs, with the aim to inspire those around me, and more importantly, pick a page from their book, for myself.
I know it’s an imperfect start in terms of my prep and the execution, but here it is:
My first conversation is with a man that I’ve known but barely known – Behzad Kharas, Founder, The BNK Group. He runs one of the finest design studios in the country and is a fine gentleman and an ambitious businessman.
His story is what we normally call a roller-coaster ride, with enough ups and downs to make for a thriller. My biggest takeaway from our conversation:
1. Never say die: Life is unpredictable, and there’s no scientific path to success. Behzad kept his head down and spirits high during the worst of times. In fact, he was willing to risk it all despite knowing what it feels like to hit rock bottom. Entrepreneurship takes heart and courage.
2. Find your Mr. Miyagi: You’re as good as your teachers and influences. When Behzad had no hope, he had a mentor who taught him the basics of design – basics that helped him touch new heights.
3. Staying grounded needs to be practiced: Whether it’s Behzad himself or his little one, humility is an ingrained quality despite the privilege. It’s a rarity in the design world, and the root cause is Behzad’s own rocky story and how he has used it to imbibe humility in his son, who has only seen the best of times.
It was a pleasure to have a candid chat with him. And I’m excited to witness BNK’s next phase of growth.
I’ll soon be launching the next two episodes with three really dynamic and young hustlers – Akash, Aman, and Harshita. Stay tuned.
Also, if you are or know of someone who may be interested in making time for a chat, please hit me up. Any inspiring story is worth listening to. Because life is nothing but a string of weird, fun, wild, crazy, beautiful, and unpredictable stories.
