The Hyrox event Mumbai.

4 days ago, someone told me about the Hyrox event in Mumbai. Obviously, with all tickets sold out, I had no option but to pester Deepak, Aravindh and their team on LinkedIn. And they were kind enough to accommodate a stranger.
But there was one problem. I didn’t know what Hyrox was. And I had 2 days to prep.
Googled it: A rigorous preparation for 3-5 months is essential, it said. But I’d already paid – which Marvadi would quit? Haha. So with a completely torn ACL and remarkably irrational hope, I showed up.
So, 2 hours 19 mins, and two extra laps (I didn’t know when to stop :D) later, I cramped my way to the finish line.
Yes, the timing is pathetic and yes, I will come back stronger. Butt that’s the thing about fitness – it isn’t binary. You’re always a WIP. And that was made clear to me by the 3,500 chiseled and muscular athletes that showed up from across 50 countries. I’ve never felt so intimidated in a competition. Of course, being lapped by Nithin Kamath and Dilip (Rainmatter) didn’t help, but I’ll take it.
I also realized, I can’t wait to run a fitness startup one day, and bring it to those who are busy hustling to survive and remain untouched by it for the most part.
And yes, it’s LinkedIn, so if I have to draw a business parallel – I think this is how I want to run Milagro Universe and anything else I take up – with persistence and with everything I’ve got.
Hats off to the Hyrox India team and to everyone else who is adding a drop to the ocean of fitness solutions that this country so desperately needs.
P.S. If you are into competitive sports or are prepping for an event of this sort, I’d love to learn more or train together. I could use some help 🙂
